For the Zadar-based soprano Nela Šarić, 2017 has been an extremely fruitful and successful year. Namely, she has won two significant singing awards at the European level; in June 2017 she was laureate of two competitions: Riccardo Zandonai in Italy and Stuart Burrows International Voice Award in Great Britain. At the competition in Italy she won the first prize of the jury and a special award of the Tokyo Metropolitan Opera Foundation, while at the British competition she was the absolute winner, having won both the first prizes of the jury and of the audience. Only a month later, she was finalist of the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition, where she was selected among the best 15 candidates, out of 1200 competitors. During 2016, she further trained at the Wales International Academy of Voice in Cardiff, under the guidance of the worldwide renowned tenor Dennis O'Neill, the Italian soprano Nuccia Focile, the operatic legend Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, and others. After her most recent successes, Nela will appear in her native Zadar for the first time in the Bersa Brothers Concert Hall, performing a number of Italian, French, German, Czech, Russian and Croatian arias and songs, accompanied by Mario Čopor, a Croatian pianist with a rich and long-lasting rehearsing experience.
