FILM [Early Music Cycle]
Caesar Must Die
Paolo & Vittorio Taviani
The Early Music Cycle begins with a film night, which as of last year has become a constant in the early music cycle: from a different angle, through the world of cinematic art, it questions the same themes that early music deals with - how contemporary man looks into the past through works of art and what he finds there. This year's film night is dedicated to the Taviani brothers' film Caesar Must Die (Cesare deve morire), a poignant testimony from the Rebibbia prison in Rome, where inmates revive Shakespeare's Julius Caesar and, through the creative process, rediscover dignity and hope. The film powerfully demonstrates how theater and art transcend walls and change the lives of those who participate in them. Program is result of collaboration with Kino Zona Zadar.
